Welcome to MGMT 3011 Managing Operations. Managing operations deals with the efficient and effective ways of productivity operationalising the organisations’ strategy. The aim of this unit is to investigate operations management theory and practice by investigating what it means, then examining the typical and emergent decisions that fall within the field of operations management. In order to understand the drivers of contemporary practices, appropriate explanation will be provided has to how they have evolved over time. Recognising the majority of growth industries today are within the services sector or have ancillary service sector business units, the focus of the unit takes both a product and a service management approach to operations management when investigating real world examples and case studies.
